Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal is a nationally and internationally acclaimed producer, director, and stage and screen actor. She became one of India’s first stand up artists and first female stand up artist in the mid 1990s and has since performered to rave reviews all over India and abroad. She recently got awarded the prestigious Karmaveer Puraskar Award for her work using art towards solving issues of social injustice, particularly in the arena of violence. The Indian adaptation of The Vagina Monologues, directed by her and her son, Kaizaad Kotwal, garnered much fame and continues to be as popular as ever.
